Nationally recognized Chicano Studies scholar, author, historian and Professor of History and Chicano Studies at the University of California Santa Barbara. Born in El Paso (Tex.) January 19, 1944. He completed his BA and MA at the University of Texas at El Paso in 1966 and 1968 respectively. He received his PhD from the University of California San Diego in 1975.
